2014 Rosado SOLD OUT
This Rosado was made from Garnacha in the Provençal method which is based on using the grapes only for making rosé.
Once picked, I destemmed the grapes and left the juice on the skins for 17 hours until the juice was the salmon-pink color I wanted. The grapes were then pressed off and the juice was moved into a stainless steel tank and chilled for 3 days. It was then racked off to neutral oak and stainless steel barrels for fermentation.
Garnacha is the Spanish name for this grape, the birthplace of this varietal. When the French planted it in the Southern Rhône they changed its name only slightly to Grenache. It is one of the most important red varietals in Spain, along with Monastrell (Mourvèdre in French) and Tempranillo.
The 2014 Rosado has a bouquet of apricot and peach with hints of vanilla and a characteristic Garnacha flavor followed by a long finish. This summer sipping wine is best served icy cold. Drink it on its own or save some for Thanksgiving dinner as it should pair great with turkey. Great with food such as spicy BBQed shrimp, fruit salads, ham, semi-soft mild cheeses, and picnic fare.
